Age verification

pixai-ai.io is 18-plus. This page explains why, how the age gate works technically, and what a self-attested age confirmation is and is not.

Why 18-plus

PixAI carries a three-tier content system, described on the platform's own Content Guidelines and news posts. Normal content is public and safe. Flagged content covers mild suggestive material such as swimwear and requires an 18-plus logged-in account. Sensitive content covers explicit anime, is generated only after a user toggles Confirm Over 18 in their PixAI settings, and is visible only to the creator. Apple rates the iOS app 17+ and flags it as Frequent Mature or Suggestive Themes. Because coverage of PixAI on this site describes the Sensitive tier, its opt-in rules, and the realistic-NSFW ban that runs across the platform, pixai-ai.io itself is 18-plus by policy.

How the age gate works

On first visit you see a modal that asks for 18-plus confirmation. Choosing "I am 18 or older" stores a single key called pixai_age_ok in your browser's localStorage. The value is the string "1". The key never leaves your device. It is not linked to any account or personal data, because this site has neither. Choosing "Leave" bounces you to a neutral external page.

Once the key is set the modal does not reappear until you clear browser data or use a different device. There is no server-side record that you passed the gate. On the four pages that must remain accessible for the modal itself to function (this page, the privacy policy, the terms of service and the 404 page) the gate does not display; every other content page requires it.

Legal context

Several jurisdictions now impose stronger age-verification duties on operators of adult content: Louisiana Act 440 (effective January 2023), the United Kingdom Online Safety Act 2023 (with Ofcom guidance rolling out through 2025), and a growing patchwork of state laws in Texas, Utah, Virginia, Mississippi, Arkansas, Florida and elsewhere. Those laws primarily target platforms that host or distribute sexually explicit material, which pixai-ai.io does not. This site is an editorial access resource that describes PixAI's rules and links to PixAI itself. If your jurisdiction requires stronger verification than a click-through for editorial content of this type, that verification is legally your responsibility and technically PixAI's, not the operator of this site.

What self-attestation is not

A click on "I am 18 or older" is a legal shield, not an identity check. This site does not upload a document, run a face scan, or contact a payment processor to verify your age. It is a good-faith notice with a record of consent stored on your device. If a stronger verification method becomes required in your jurisdiction for editorial resources of this type, this page and the terms of service will be updated to reflect the change.

If you are a parent

If a child in your care has reached this site, the effective controls are on their device and account: content restrictions in iOS Screen Time and Android Family Link, network-level filtering (Google Family Link, OpenDNS Family Shield, Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 for Families, Circle Home Plus), and the age setting on the app-store account that would install the PixAI app. Blocking pixai-ai.io alone does not block PixAI itself; access to pixai.art in a browser is unaffected by anything set on this site. PixAI's own guidelines on minor-adjacent content are strict (any sexualized depiction of a minor, fictional or otherwise, ends in account termination with no data recovery), but the enforcement is theirs.

Legal boundaries sit in the terms of service, data handling in the privacy policy, and the content-position statement on the § 2257 statement. The editorial position that shapes what appears on this site is on the editorial policy page.
